Algonac 5/11/07

Algonac State Park
Algonac, MI

Well I lost my job this week, but it didn't change our camping plans! Went to Algonac on the shores of Lake St. Clair where Lake Huron and the river meet. This was another GLPUC outing. Nice park and nice weather, cool at night but not the bone chilling cold of Metamora. Friday night we listened to the Wings (win) and Sat there was a Photo scavenger hunt for the kids. The park is across the highway from the water, but it is narrow here and you can see freighters UP CLOSE going by frequently, and Canada almost near enough to touch. The park is cool and has a great paved trail that runs along the lake shore for miles.. connecting Port Huron and Algonac. The park also has Archery and Trap shooting areas. No real swimming area, but I think this would be a beautiful place in the fall. The park was hard hit by the emerald ash bug and a lot of trees had been removed in the back campground areas.
